We began in 1 Peter today, we read through 1:20. Topics of discussion included: How was it to write a book of the Bible and not uderstand what you have written. The importance of trying to be Holy in fear (respect) of the Lord. Why did God not send His Son sooner? The Peace and Grace God has provided in Jesus.

Last Sunday we read 1:20-2:25. Although we all had low engine levels a few things were pointed out:
the importance and love and respect (including respect to authority and Gov. law) for others and how demonstration of God's love through our actions can be so powerful
key vs 2:6 As the scriptures express it,"see I am sending Christ to be the carefully chosen, precious Cornerstone of my church, and I will never disappoint those who trust in him"
theme vs from youth gathering 2:9 But you are not like that, for you have been chosen by God himself-you are priests of the King, you are holy and pure, you are God's very own-all this so that you may show to others how God called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
Suffering is part of our journey, turn to Christ as our example, not that we should seek out suffering but when it is dealt to us cling close to God and stay true to your beliefs.

So last Sunday we delved into 1 Peter Chapter 3. Despite some filters being removed and Jesus crying (you had to be there to get it :) ) I think we got a lot out of Chapter 3. Chapter 3 jumped around a bit and began with how husbands and wives should treat each other, this was a big jump at the time this was written since wives were not always treated with respect by their husbands and Peter clearly stated that this should be done. Then Peter spoke more broadly of how we should treat each other and how we should witness to others in a "gentle and respectful way". Finally Peter provided biblical reference of Christ as well as Noah as examples in this chapter.
